Taylor Sheridan’s meg- hit 1883 may have been available to watch for over a year now but over the weekend the Yellowstone prequel put up monster numbers again.

While 1883 premiered back in December of 2021 with huge numbers of its own on Sunday 1883 brought in 3.8 million viewers making it the most-watched cable premiere in quite a few years if it was a true premiere. Those are great numbers in itself but you must think of the even larger picture. Many people have already binged this show on Paramount Plus some even more than once. Bringing in close to 4 million in viewership is huge and shows the greatness that 1883 was and still is.

The1883 debut for the Taylor Sheridan spectacle brought in 4.9 million viewers and just as we predicted the numbers were nearly as great the second time around. It’s a great feat and great promotion for the Yellowstone universe. Not only is it bringing in more fans but it’s giving another glimpse into the history of the Dutton’s and the history of America.

That is one of the greatest things that Taylor Sheridan does, he allows an audience to connect to these characters with beautiful storytelling. He also shares an even larger message which is the history of America and what it all took to get to where we are today. The most wonderful thing he does is not sugarcoat it much like television and even books have done in the past. What you get is raw and real especially when it comes to the history of hardships and Native Americans. And you can see that in every one of his shows.

The limited series prequel 1883 will continue this weekend with the next episode set to air on Paramount Network. There will now be one episode per week so tune in and see why 1883 gets the love it deserves.
