Dark Winds has been one of AMC’s most promising shows in the last two years and HBO is giving credit where credit due. HBO is adding a select few shows from AMC to debut on Max as an AMC Plus featured section along with Killing Eve, Gangs of London, Fear the Walking Dead, A Discovery of Witches, Ride with Norman Reedus, and Interview With the Vampire. So for those people who don’t have the privilege of attaining both Max and AMC Plus you are in luck and will now have the opportunity for two months to binge a few AMC’s most prominent programs!
AMC Networks is looking to boost its streaming numbers. Companies are calling this a “programming pop-up” in a special section of Max that will be available to everybody who has an Max membership at no extra cost. HBO’s audience will have the unique opportunity to view hundreds of episodes for a limited time.
It is a little unusual that a large platform such as Max and Discovery will be partnering with AMC Networks where usually rivalries take place. But it’s a good fit for both parties and in the end should be successful for each network. AMC will broaden its viewership thanks to the 96 million customers who watch Max in return Max gets hundreds of premium episodes from AMC’s best to also help their streaming numbers. In essence, it will be a win-win situation for both parties.
"AMC Networks makes great shows, and our goal is to bring these shows to as many people as possible, in ways that best serve viewers.”"- Dan McDermott President of Entertainment
Dark Winds is coming up on its season 2 finale this Sunday. The first season of the show also carried 6 episodes. We are hoping for a little more for season 3 but for now, we will have to wait and see if there will be a season 3 yet. While the first season was great Dark Winds has gotten even better as each episode has gone along. The streaming and linear numbers were much higher this season and I do believe the sky is the limit for this show. The season premiere will air this Sunday on AMC at 9 PM ET.
