Yellowstone meets Virgin River in new Netflix show Ransom Canyon

Yellowstone may be coming to a close at the end of the year but there is another Western-Drama for fans to dive into. If you love Yellowstone and Virgin River this Netflix series is going to be for you. And you know what means lots of drama and lots of romance.

Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel will be the leads of the show, and joining them is legendary actor James Brolin. The series will be set in Texas and will unfold the stories of three ranching families. The plot will focus on the ranch of Ransom Canyon in Texas Hill County. It looks like there will be a lot of intimacy in this modern-day Dallas style of show.

Minka Kelly plays the character of Quinn O’Grady. She’s a musical wizard who spent her recent days out in New York City. Quinn is a reserved woman but has a shining personality that people quickly are attracted to. Minka is most famously known for her role as Lyla Garrity on Friday Night Lights. Recently, she was in the hit HBO drama Euphoria.

Josh Duhamel plays the character of Staten Kirkland, a very John Dutton-like character who will do anything and everything to protect his ranch. He’s very tough, with some rough edges. However, when it comes to romance, this strong man has a softer touch. Josh is no newbie to love stories, as he’s already stolen our hearts in the movie Safe Haven.

Veteran actor James Brolin will play a former Army Captain named Cap Fuller, owner of the Fuller Ranch. And if you thought Staten was rough around the edges, wait until you meet this man. His cold exterior is due to the fact that he lost his son in Afghanistan. The loss of family is something we all can relate to. Time will tell if the audience will understand his indifferent nature.

There is no release date for the highly anticipated series yet, but fans speculate we will see Minka Kelly and the rest of the cast late in 2024 to early 2025. I am sure that Netflix will want to avoid bumping heads with the final episodes of Yellowstone. With Yellowstone reaching its end, Ransom Canyon may be just the show to fill that void in your heart.
