Taylor Sheridan's "The Last Cowboy" is back for another season
Four seasons have come and gone for the intense televised competition, "The Last Cowboy." This November, the show is back for its 5th season and is expected to be more tenacious than ever as the 16 competitors race for the big bucks.
The documentary style series was thought up for CMT by "Yellowstone's" own Taylor Sheridan, with the first season premiering in 2019. It is produced by Truly Original with Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Rob Burkle, Bob Yari, Glenda Harsh, Julie Lombardi, Michelle Schiefen, Gino Tomac and Apryl Richards as executive producers. Todd Baynes and Keith Cox are also overseeing production.
This fifth season of The Last Cowboy is going to run with with even higher stakes as Sheridan plans to launch the "Run for a Million" competition, set to take place at the end of the season at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. One million dollars is what's at stake and these horse reining stars are putting it all on the line.
Horse reining is a traditional Western sport that consists of the rider guiding his or her horse through a series of complicated choreography: a variation of circles, stops and spins performed as precise as possible keeps viewers on the edge of their seats as they root for their favorite duo. The show is meant to give an inside look on the intense training and lifestyle of those who love, live and breathe Western sports such as horse reining, as well as to commemorate and revitalize traditional cowboy lifestyle.
This season the competitors have come down to 16 qualified riders including three time winner of National Reining Horse Association, Casey Deary (44). Born and raised in Texas, Deary and has been a contestant in the Run for a Million since 2019 along with his trusty steed, Down Right Amazing.
Andrea Fappani, Shawn Flarida, Arno Honstetter, Francesco Martinotti, Jordan McBurney, Sean McBurny, Cad McCutcheon, Matt Palmer, Nathan Piper, Fernando Salgado, Craig Schmersal, Josh Tishman, Dany Tremblay, Jason Vanlandingham and Billy Williams wrap up the rest of The Last Cowboy 2024 gang.
Each of these participants are highly skilled and intensely trained in the art of horse reining and though Deary poses some tough competition moving forward with his impressive repertoire, the fifteen other competitors will surely have some tricks up their sleeves.
The latest season of The Last Cowboy will be released on Friday, November 17 on Paramount+ at 8 PM ET/PT.
